How to Use Image to PDF Converter

Image to PDF Converter and Online Document Scanner

Turn phone photos, screenshots and images into one clean PDF, right in your browser. Snap a page with your camera and the tool finds the page edges, flattens it, levels tilted text and can clean it up to look like a real scan. You can also add searchable text with OCR. It's free, there's nothing to install, no account, and no watermark.

It works with JPG, PNG and WebP, up to 50 images per PDF.

How to Scan or Convert Images to PDF

Step 1: Add Your Images

Click the upload area or drag image files onto it. On a phone, tap Take photo to shoot pages with your camera.

  • Formats: JPEG/JPG, PNG and WebP
  • Limits: up to 50 images, each up to 10 MB

Step 2: Arrange and Fix Your Pages

Each image becomes one page, in the order shown. Use the buttons on each image to:

  • Move up / Move down to change the page order
  • Rotate 90° to turn a sideways page
  • Remove an image, or Clear all to start over
  • Crop and straighten a page by hand (see below)

Auto-crop all finds the page edges in every photo at once, so you can check them before converting.

Step 3: Choose Your Settings

The settings come in four groups:

Step 4: Convert and Download

Click Convert. When the PDF is ready you'll see the page count, the file size, whether the cleanup ran, and whether the text is searchable. Click the download button to save the PDF.

Crop and Straighten a Photographed Page

Pages photographed at an angle come out as tilted, trapezoid-shaped shapes. The scanner turns them back into flat, rectangular pages.

Automatic (Auto-straighten)

With Auto-straighten pages on, each photo gets three fixes:

  1. Finds the page edges and crops away the desk or background around the page.
  2. Flattens the perspective, so a page shot at an angle becomes a flat rectangle with its real proportions. An A4 page stays A4-shaped instead of being squashed.
  3. Levels tilted text by measuring the angle of the text lines and rotating the page until they're level.

Pages you cropped or straightened yourself keep your settings. Screenshots and images that are already straight stay as they are.

By Hand (Crop and straighten)

Click the crop button on an image to open the editor:

  • Drag the four corners onto the corners of the page. Detect edges places them automatically, and Whole image resets them.
  • In the Straighten step, turn the page with the slider (up to ±15°) until the text lines follow the grid. Auto measures the angle for you, and Reset puts it back to 0°.

Click Apply to keep your changes.

Color Modes

ModeResultBest for
OriginalColors exactly as photographedPhotos, colored artwork
Enhanced colorRemoves shadows and uneven light; the paper turns white and colors stayForms, colored documents, whiteboards
GrayscaleShades of grayText documents where color doesn't matter
Black & white (scan)Crisp black text on white paper, like a photocopierContracts, letters, receipts, notes

Enhanced color and Black & white both even out the lighting, so a page with a shadow across it still comes out clean.

Page Layout

Image Fit

  • Fit whole image (default): the whole image is shown, and white space fills any gap. Nothing is cut off.
  • Fill page (crops edges): the image fills the page edge to edge. Parts that don't fit are cropped.
  • Stretch to fill (distorts): the image is stretched to the page's shape. Only use it for images that already have the page's proportions.

Orientation

  • Portrait (default) and Landscape apply to every page.
  • Auto (match each image) turns each page to match its image: wide images get landscape pages and tall ones get portrait pages. The PDF can then mix both, so wide photos and tables aren't shrunk onto a tall page.

Image Quality and File Size

Image qualityResolutionBest for
Original (full resolution) (default)Every pixel keptArchiving, the best possible quality
Print (300 DPI)Standard print qualityPrinting, official submissions
Standard (150 DPI)Sharp on screenEveryday sharing
Small file (96 DPI)Screen qualityEmail attachments, upload size limits
Custom…Your own resolution and JPEG qualityFine-tuning

The resolution is measured at the image's size on the page, so a photo placed small isn't stored with more detail than it needs.

Make Scanned PDFs Searchable (OCR)

Turn on Make text searchable (OCR) to add an invisible text layer to the PDF. The pages look exactly the same, but you can search, select and copy the text, and your PDF can be found by its content.

  • Languages: English, Arabic and Spanish, alone or paired with English (e.g. Arabic + English). Put the page's main language first.
  • Results: printed text in common fonts is recognized very accurately. Handwriting, decorative fonts and very small text are harder. In Arabic, the font matters a lot, and Arabic-Indic digits (٠١٢٣) are sometimes misread.
  • If text recognition fails or is busy, you still get your PDF, just without the text layer.

Tips for Better Phone Scans

  1. Use a contrasting background. A white page on a dark table is the easiest to detect.
  2. Get all four corners in the frame, with a little space around the page.
  3. Use even light. Avoid your own shadow over the page. If you can't, use Enhanced color or Black & white.
  4. Hold the phone roughly above the page. Angled shots are corrected, but the more parallel, the sharper the result.
  5. Keep the page flat. Folds and curled pages can't be fully flattened.

Privacy

  • The PDF is built in your browser. It's assembled on your device and downloaded straight to it.
  • Photo cleanup uses our server. Finding the page, straightening and color clean-up run on our image service. Photos are processed in memory, never stored, and deleted as soon as the response is sent.
  • When nothing is uploaded: with Auto-straighten off, Color mode on Original and no manual cropping or straightening, your images never leave your device.
  • OCR uploads the finished PDF to recognize its text, and deletes it right after.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good alternative to CamScanner?

Yes, if you want to turn photos of documents into a PDF without installing an app. It finds the page edges, fixes the perspective, levels the text, gives you a black & white scan look and can add searchable text, with no account and no watermark. It doesn't store or sync your documents; you download each PDF.

How do I scan a document with my phone without an app?

Open this page in your phone's browser, tap Take photo and photograph each page. Keep Auto-straighten pages on, choose Black & white (scan) as the color mode, and tap Convert. Then download the PDF.

Does it add a watermark?

No. The PDF contains only your pages.

Are my images uploaded?

Only for the photo cleanup. With Auto-straighten on, or when you choose a color mode other than Original, or crop or straighten a page, the photo is sent to our image service, processed in memory and deleted right after. The PDF itself is built in your browser. With all of those off, your images never leave your device.

Can I make a scanned PDF searchable?

Yes. Turn on Make text searchable (OCR) and pick the text language. The PDF gets an invisible text layer, so you can search, select and copy its text.

Which OCR languages are supported?

English, Arabic and Spanish, alone or combined with English. Choose the page's main language first, for example Arabic + English for an Arabic page with some English words.

Why wasn't my page detected?

Automatic detection needs to see the page's edges. It works best with a page on a contrasting background with all four corners in the photo. If it misses, open Crop and straighten and drag the corners into place.

Why is my straightened page cut off or still tilted?

The tool levels pages using their text lines. Pages with very little text, or text in several directions, may not be measured. Open Crop and straighten, go to the Straighten step, and level the page with the slider.

Can I mix portrait and landscape images?

Yes. Set Orientation to Auto (match each image) and each page turns to match its image. With Portrait or Landscape, every page has the same orientation and images are centered on it.

Why is my PDF file so large?

Original keeps every pixel of your photos, and phone photos are large. Choose Print, Standard or Small file under Image quality. Black & white and Grayscale pages are also smaller.

What's the maximum number of images?

Up to 50 images per PDF, each up to 10 MB.

Can I convert a single image to PDF?

Yes. Add one image and click Convert to get a one-page PDF.

What happens to transparent PNG images?

Transparent areas become white, since PDF pages are printed on white paper.

Can I add text or a signature?

Not in this tool. It turns images into PDF pages. To add text, a signature or annotations, use a PDF editor after converting.
