PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, CSV, JSON, XML, EPUB, Outlook and text files up to 10.0 MB
Files are converted in memory and discarded right after. Nothing is stored.
PDFs keep their text, but headings and table layout may be lost. Scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported.
Turn PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, and other formats, into clean Markdown. The output keeps the document's structure: headings, lists, tables and links. That makes it easy to paste into a README, a wiki, a static site, or an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude.
Markdown is a plain-text format that uses simple symbols for structure: # for headings, - for list items, | for table columns and ** for bold text. Markdown files are small, readable as-is, and supported by GitHub, Notion, Obsidian, documentation tools and most AI tools.
Converting a document to Markdown removes the visual styling (fonts, colors, page layout) and keeps the content and its structure.

Older Word (.doc) and PowerPoint (.ppt) files are not supported. Open them in Office or LibreOffice and save them as .docx or .pptx first.
Select Convert to Markdown. Most documents take less than a second. Large PDFs and spreadsheets can take a few seconds.

The word and character counts help you check whether the text fits an AI tool's input limit.
PDF files store text as positioned characters rather than as structured paragraphs and headings. The converter extracts the text in reading order, but:
For the cleanest result, convert the original Word or PowerPoint file instead of a PDF exported from it.
Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted in memory, and discarded as soon as the result is returned. Files and their content are not stored or logged.
The PDF is most likely a scan: each page is an image. Text recognition (OCR) is not supported yet. If you have the original document, convert that instead.
No. Markdown references images by link, and the images inside a document are not extracted. Image descriptions (alt text) are kept where the document has them.
Yes. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML and text files keep their text in the correct order. Some PDFs store right-to-left text in visual order, which can produce reversed words. Converting the original Word file avoids this.
Yes, 10 MB per file. For larger documents, split the file into parts and convert each one separately.
